So this year, we’re going to help you out – by helping you flex your research muscles before Patent Olympiad 2019.
POPQUIZ: Patent Olympiad Preliminaries to sharpen your research skills
Other athletic competitions have preliminaries: competition rounds before the main event. So why not Patent Olympiad?
POPQuiz is a series of mini-challenges devised by Team Patent Olympiad. We’ll be running the series as part of the lead up to our main event, Patent Olympiad 2019.
Our aim is to stimulate your creativity and research skills while giving you a taste of the competition to come. POPQuiz questions are meant to be short, challenging, and doable, but most of all, they are meant to be fun. Fun, at least, for patent researchers. Everyone else, well…who knows?
A Weekly POPQuiz from August to mid-September
From August to September, we at Patent Olympiad will post at least 1 POPQuiz a week on the Patent Olympiad blog. We’ll share the post on social media as well.
The following week, we will post our answer, and along with a short explanation of the reasoning behind the answer.
We expect to end the POPQuiz challenges mid-September, mostly so that the Patent Olympiad team can focus on the main competition in Bucharest, Romania. We do have something else planned for the end of September or beginning of October, however, so be sure stay in touch.
Who Can Play?
Anyone can participate in the POPQuiz challenge. Just follow along.
You don’t need to register for Patent Olympiad (although you can right here :D). Just visit us here on the POdium Blog regularly, so you can see when we post the challenges.
are there prizes?
Nope, no prizes. Just the thrill of the hunt and a chance to play alongside your fellow patent researchers. You may earn the right to gloat, however, should you so choose.
How Do I Play?
1) Watch for the POPQuiz! Posts on the PODIUM Blog.
Subscribe to updates using the form at the end of this post. You can also watch for announcements on our main social media channels below. You may wish to do both, as we at Patent Olympiad are not fully automated when it comes to our email lists.
2) When a new POPQuiz is published, we’ll provide:
a deadline for providing your answer
instructions for submitting the answer to us (it may vary depending on the type of question).
3) After the answer deadline has passed, we will publish our answer in the PODIUM Blog.
We’ll usually do this a couple of days after the answer deadline closes. We’ll explain why we chose the question and answer we used, and give a little background about the challenge.
And who knows? Maybe we’ll highlight some of our POPquiz submissions, especially if you surprise us with correct answers we didn’t expect.
