You’ve probably heard…and yes, it’s official. Patent Olympiad 2019 is happening!

Our Host Conference Last Year: CEPIUG’s 10th Anniversary Conference

Our inaugural event in Milan last year was great fun.

We are so grateful to our host conference in 2018, CEPIUG’s 10th Anniversary Conference. This very first Patent Olympiad would not have happened at all without the enthusiasm and hospitality of our hosts. We were and are especially grateful to Guido Moradei, who championed our presence at the conference and the whole notion of the Patent Olympiad itself.

Our Host Conference This Year: EPOPIC 2019

This year, we are delighted to say that our host conference will be European Patent Organization’s EPOPIC 2019 in Bucharest, Romania. EPOPIC 2019 runs from October 29 to 31, with some educational workshops scheduled for the 28th and 31s. The core event of the Patent Olympiad, – the Patent Olympiad competition – will be held on the morning of October 28.

EPOPIC is the EPO’s annual patent information conference and is one of the premier events for those who work with patent information.

Patent searchers, patent attorneys, commercial providers of patent information services and representatives from national patent offices will be there, and this year’s EPOPIC is being organized in cooperation with OSIM, the Romanian Patent Office.

The Patent Olympiad Schedule

Below is a broad outline of our schedule, along with a few notes about EPOPIC.

Sunday October 27

• A welcome event for our competitors (details TBD; suggestions welcome!)

• Recommended: a good night’s sleep!

Monday, October 28

• Morning - The Patent Olympiad Competition!

• Afternoon - free time for competitors. Workshops available for EPOPIC registrants.

Tuesday October 29

• First official day of EPOPIC 2019

• Announcement of Patent Olympiad 2019 Results at EPOPIC

Why Not Plan a Patent Research Holiday?

Now, we admit…not everyone plans a holiday around a patent information event. And even fewer plan their travels around two patent information events.

But perhaps some of us do..

We’d love for you to join us at Patent Olympiad 2019.

So save the dates: October 27 to 29, 2019. And…

If you also want to attend EPOPIC 2019, just a reminder that those dates are October 29 to 31. EPOPIC also has additional training workshops on October 28th and 31st.

Whatever details you choose, just be sure to keep the morning of October 28 free for the Patent Olympiad competition.

Because we definitely want to see you there.

We are in the process of setting up registration for our event. We have a couple of administrative details to sort out, so please bear with us.

Still, we expect to be open for registration between July 10 and July 14, 2019.

Again, please note that registration for EPOPIC is completely separate. If you want to take full advantage of both events, you need to register for Patent Olympiad and EPOPIC separately.
